Tonight at GEMS we learned a lot about life in Africa and what life is like for our GEMS sisters in Zambia. I gave the girls a clothing challenge to help them experience it a bit more fully: Can you choose 15 items of clothing (not including socks, underwear, coats, sports uniforms, and jewelry) to wear exclusively for the next 4 weeks? It's an optional activity, but it sounds like a lot of them are going to go for it. If you're a GEMS mom, maybe you want to ask your daughters about it. If you know a GEM, ask her. If you'd like, join us on our challenge!
We also kicked off our Butterbraid and Hand N Hand fundraisers today! Orders and money are due October 24. Support our local GEMS and our GEMS in Zambia by selling and buying Butterbraids, cookie mixes, soup mixes, and other African items!
"Bring change to Bring change" is an on-going campaign to raise money for bricks and Bibles for the Esther School which the GEMS organization is building in Zambia. Girls and church attenders are encouraged to donate their change from now until March. Let's see how many bricks and Bibles we can buy! A jar will be in the library on Sundays and in the basement on GEMS nights. Thank you for your support!
